No One Believes Anything….. Great NY Times Headline

These are the headlines that matter on November 18, 2019. That is until the biggest news broke about one hour ago. Faced with a insurmountable storm of pressure from Popeye’s Chicken sandwich, Chick-fil-A caved. Chick-fil-A is making major changes to its charitable foundation, ending donations to two organizations that have been criticized for being anti-LGBTQ.The fast food chain announced Monday that beginning next year it will only donate to a certain group of charities. That list no longer includes the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Both organizations have taken controversial stands on homosexuality and same-sex marriage. Going forward, Chick-fil-A said it will work exclusively with organizations that focus on education, homelessness and hunger. Those are Junior Achievement USA, Covenant House International and donating $25,000 local food banks. So there you have it.

Do I care if they caved to pressure due from backlash from the media, college campuses, airports and most cities in Liberal areas? Not really. Chick-fil-A is going to survive no matter who they give to or what they support. They are a privately owned company so they can do as they please. They put out a good product, with great customer service. Sure you can boycott but please. I know you will succumb to that fried chicken on the bun with two pickles and what I typically get is the Chick-fil-A special sauce. Waffle fries…. Yeah buddy. So don’t give me the boycott crap. You’re a liar.

What does bother me about this whole Chick-fil-A ordeal is not the fact that they did cave and like all businesses, the bottom line is that it is “All about the Benjamins.” That is the case here pure and simple. The reason that I will have a problem with this Chick-fil-A news is that they just ruined itself by misequatting Christianity with hate, much like the press and those on the left love to do. Chick-fil-A knows better and has been defending itself for years to show that what was being said about them in their eyes was not true and it wasn’t. To me that is unforgivable.

What I do care about and none of which will be reported is the monies that will no longer go to organizations like The Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 2018 alone, Chick-fil-A gave $115,000 to the Salvation Army for the Angel Tree program, which provided gifts for 11,000 children during the holiday season. Salvation Army serves more than 23 million individuals a year, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, they believe they are the largest provider of poverty relief to the LGBTQ+ population. In August 2018 , a progressive Silicon Valley giant followed Chick-fil-A’s lead, giving $1.5 million to the Salvation Army to fight homelessness. I KNOW the work they do to fight substance abuse, the work with veterans, PTSD and homelessness. Thank GOD FOR THEM. These are the stories you will never hear. It is a sad day. Chick-fil-A also gave $1.65 million to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to provide underserved youth with week-long summer sports camps at historically black colleges and universities which leads me to the part I don’t and never will understand……….. I do not understand people who put Ketchup on their Hot Dogs. I have friends that do but I just don’t get it. I don’t hate them or the fact that they use ketchup instead of chilli, onions, mustard and coleslaw but there are those that do and I except that. Ketchup on my dogs aren’t my thing but if it’s yours it is fine. We can all live in the same country, enjoy our dogs the way we like them. The great Philosopher Rodney King once asked a question that is still pertinent today and as he once so eloquently asked, “Can’t we all just get along? ” Yes Rodney, we can. Even with those who use pickle relish and kraut.
