Oh No, It’s That Month Again

As everyone knows today is the first of Febwary. This is that month that I seem to always mispell, kind of like Wednesday. I always have a hard time with that one too for some reason. To me Febuary is the suckiest month of the year. March will give it a run but the fact I was born in March gives Fabuery the edge. There are many reasons Feberary blows. It’s cold, and dark.

Valentine’s Day. Never understood what made Valentine a saint. Dude is the patron saint of lovers, epileptics, and beekeepers. I always heard that Saints are suppose to keep busy in the afterlife. Their holy duties include interceding in earthly affairs and entertaining petitions from living souls. St. Valentine has wide-ranging spiritual responsibilities. People call on him to watch over the lives of lovers but also for interventions regarding beekeeping and epilepsy, as well as the plague, fainting and traveling. Somebody got the crappy end of Saintdom. St Francis, St Christopher and St. Nick really lucked out.

The Super Bowl is in Fabrury. That bites because it is a constant reminder every year that this is the last football game of the season. Plus this year will be Super Bowl LV which is 55. Every Feduary I am reminded that I have witnessed every one of them.

Martin Van Buren, Millard Fillmore, Rutherford B Hayes, Chester Arthur, Woodrow Wilson. At one time we celebrated the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, Presidents worth celebrating but noooooo, now we have to celebrate these guys?

Febaruy is also racist. There I said it. Of all the months to celebrate “Black History”, we do that in the worst month imaginable. Speaking of “Black History Month”, I have noticed Facebook brings out the worst in people in this month. I am one who has always believed racism in this country is overblown. Still do but I also know that there are racist slithering around. My Facebook feed gets littered with those who wonder why we don’t have and celebrate a “White History Month” every year. I think a big swath of American history is white. Personally I think you may want to rethink the whole “White History Month” thing. We “white people” started a country built on a wonderful idea with founders who I believe had divine inspiration and for the most part I think it has worked………for me. So if we want to have a “White History Month”, let’s have it in March and look at all the history of white people. Including the parts of history that in Indian Land High School I never heard about. As they say, “Warts and all.” What do you say?

Febawary, what a month. The only redeeming quality is there isn’t but 28 days but as great as that is it is still a rip off.
